reciprocating chatiryworld’s «three pictures» (and cheating, because i’ve grouped 3 things in 1 picture):
3 favourite items from my breakfast table (i’m a bit ashamed now, because i can’t help noticing none of them seems to be made in italy): tin cereal box, plain put lovely bowl from habitat, typographic mug from the metropolitan museum, where i’ve never been.
3 things i’d save from my apartement if I should leave in a hurry (assuming that a man and two cats do not count as «items», that i’ve had time to get dressed and my shoulder bag is already on my shoulder).
this exercise has been useful: i discovered i was strangely detached while thinking about it--i mean, if i was to leave everything behind, it would really make little sense taking only 3 «important» things. if i had to choose now, i’d probably look ahead, so: my computer, a book i haven’t read yet, and my new seurat-patterned umbrella, which might be nice to have in this weather.
(so sorry about the ugly flash, but every sunlit hour seems to have disappeared from my working days, all of a sudden.)
Ooh, I love Habitat too! Sadly they have just closed down their city centre store here and I'll have to get the bus out to the retail development miles away :-(
I chose my 3 'rescued things' by trying to think what could be replaced easily, and what couldn't be replaced, what the insurance would cover etc (very practical). That's how I came up with my ring, photos and the lovely Baby Noun.
I really like your cereal tin too, much nicer than my plastic boxes.

habitat had opened two stores in milano some time ago, but they closed down after a couple of years, so i guess my closest choice would be lyon, or maybe switzerland. none too practical! (but retail developments are usually loathsome, aren't they)
on second thought, the cereal box could fit also in the second group: i'm always on the lookout for kitchen tins, but they seem strangely hard to find, so i'd better salvage mine (especially one big spaghetti tin) from the apartment, while i'm at it!

I particularly like your Seurat-patterned umbrella - poetic and romantic at the same time! And it is interesting the idea of picking up the three objects that symbolize you most!

Stamattina mi vedo recapitare a casa Mary Poppins in persona; basta che apra la valigetta nera sul parquet, perché ne escano meraviglie!
(I really had a Mary Poppins experience here... just if she opens the little bag on the floor, anything can pop out, doesn't?

ah, be', il bello del simbolismo è la sua involontarietà, non stanchiamoci mai di ricordarlo (i didn't think these were symbolic at all, but one can't help a bit of unconscious slipping in, can she).
palmasco: anything!
